# Equifund-Funded Nevada Canyon Pushes Lapon Canyon Resource Estimate Into 2027

An October 22 8-K reports new drill results at Lapon Canyon, Nevada, and pushes the project's first NI 43-101 resource estimate from the end of 2026, the target in every 2026 release until now, into the first half of 2027. Nevada Canyon sold $10.0 million of units through Equifund in 2023.

By Michael E., Head of Research, AltStreet Research (https://altstreet.investments/authors/michael-e). Published October 27, 2026. Platform: Equifund (https://altstreet.investments/platforms/reviews/equifund). Entity: Nevada Canyon Gold Corp. (CIK 1605481, https://altstreet.investments/edgar/1605481).

Nevada Canyon Gold Corp. said on October 22, 2026 that the first formal resource estimate for its Lapon Canyon gold project in Nevada is now expected in the first half of 2027. Until this release, the company had said throughout 2026 that the estimate would be finished by the end of the year. The update came with new drill results, furnished to the SEC in an 8-K. Nevada Canyon is one of the few companies funded through Equifund whose shares trade publicly: it sold $10.0 million of units at $0.80 through the platform in 2023.

## What the filing shows

The 8-K furnishes a press release under Item 7.01, so it is not deemed 'filed' for purposes of Section 18 of the Exchange Act. The release reports results from the 2026 reverse-circulation drill program at Lapon Canyon, which Walker River Resources Corp. (TSX-V: WRR) owns and operates. Nevada Canyon is earning a 50% interest by funding $5 million of exploration over three years under an agreement dated February 3, 2025, and also holds royalties on it: the release calls this a 3% net smelter royalty, which its FY2025 10-K lists as a 2% royalty on the Lapon Canyon project and a 1% royalty on 36 Sleeper claims.

President and director Lisa Doddridge said the program 'has advanced more slowly than we had planned. Between drill rig availability, drilling conditions and significant backlog at the assay lab, it has been a challenge. These factors have pushed back our mineral resource estimate by about a quarter.' She added that Nevada Canyon is fully funding the work in the second year of the earn-in.

The release's main intercepts, in sampled lengths:

- LC-26-175: 2.07 g/t gold over 47.25 m from 80.77 m, including 3.07 g/t over 30.48 m
- LC-26-179: 2.02 g/t over 48.77 m from 24.38 m, including 6.61 g/t over 7.62 m
- LC-26-183: 3.63 g/t over 12.19 m from 74.68 m
- LC-26-186: 1.29 g/t over 38.10 m from 24.38 m; the hole was stopped at 64.01 m by ground conditions while still in the mineralized interval
- LC-26-174 was lost before reaching its target depth, LC-26-178 was abandoned and LC-26-184 returned no significant gold

## How the target date has moved

Nevada Canyon's releases, all furnished to the SEC as 8-K exhibits, give the timing as follows. December 11, 2025: the estimate was 'expected sometime in 2026'. February 25, 2026: 'expected to be complete by year end'. June 3, 2026: 'on track to deliver the first NI 43-101 compliant resource by the end of this year'. June 11, 2026, as the 2026 drill program began: 'expected to be completed in 2026'. October 22, 2026: 'sometime in the first half of 2027'. That is one move, from year-end 2026 into 2027, which the company sizes at about a quarter; a first-half 2027 date could also mean a longer slip.

## The Equifund connection

AltStreet's review of Equifund lists Nevada Canyon among the platform's showcase outcomes. Its 2023 units each combined a share with a warrant exercisable at $1.20; on October 9, 2026 the common stock was quoted at $0.41, below the $0.80 unit price. That comparison is a mark on one date, not a realized return, and it does not value the warrant.

## Why it matters

A resource estimate is the first point at which drill results become a statement of tonnage and grade under a recognized standard, and it is the milestone the company has used to describe the project's value. Until it is published, intercepts like these show gold-bearing intervals of the reported sampled lengths, not how much gold there is. The operator controls drilling and modeling, so the schedule depends partly on a company Nevada Canyon does not control.

## What the filing does not show

No initial NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate has been published for Lapon Canyon; the release reports intercepts only, and true widths have not been established. The stated causes of the delay are the company's account and were not checked against Walker River's own records. The release does not address Nevada Canyon's cash position, its spending to date under the earn-in or its other royalty interests; its latest 10-Q covers the quarter to June 30.
